If you have an indoor cat, you need these
I discovered these about 5 years ago at my local pet shop after my cat all of a sudden thought clawing the furniture sounded like fun. At first, it was challenging to get them on my cats but they do get used to it rather quickly. Here are some tips:
1. clip claws the day before
2. put the glue in 4 tips at a time
3. wrap up the cat in a towel and quickly put on claws
4. entertain and comfort cat for about 5 minutes to let the glue dry
5. repeat steps 2-4 a few hours later when the cat is calm again
I also highly recommend using the colored ones. That way you will notice sooner that your cat lost/shed one without finding the results on your furniture. If your cat does not shed the claws, they are very easy to clip thru and then peel the rest off the nail.
Wonderful Product! Way better than the alternative!!
I just recently adopted a 10 week old kitten who was abandoned by a church dumpster. She was the sweetest, most adorable thing I had ever seen, and I just HAD to have her home with me, despite the fact that I had never owned a cat before (we've always been dog-people).
Well, Cleo (her name is Cleopatra) is a joy to have around the house, except when she stretches out her claws while sitting in my lap! Ouch!!! My fiance wants to de-claw her - I said no way!
I begged him to let me find alternatives that weren't as inhumane as de-clawing...and I ran into reviews about this product. I see many mixed reviews - you either love or hate them!
Well - I am one who loves them! I went straight to my local pet store to purchase these and went home to clip her nails and then put them on her cute little toes. (You may need two people to put them on the first time - Cleo wiggled around so much!!!)
I also bought the clear Soft Paws - I didn't want Cleo walking around with...
Work great, not that easy to apply, and I'm a vet!
I love having these nail caps on my cats. They work great and the cats don't seem to notice they have them on. I just laugh when I read the reviews from people who say their cats don't mind the application. They do get used to it with time, but at first nearly every cat has a fit! My veterinary colleagues agree with me on this. It works well if you first put it on them while they're under anesthesia for spaying/neutering. After that you just need to apply one or two at a time and it's much easier.
