Perfect For My (My Cat's) Needs
I usually wait to write a review to try out the product. I have only had this for two days but I can tell this one does not require a trial period. as soon as I assembled (which was very easy) and put it on the porch my cold cat flocked to it and seemed to be thanking me with exuberance over his new warm shelter. I would not put this out in the yard without at least some kind of covering because I'm sure even in a mild rain the inside would get soaked, plus it helps if you can put it close to an outlet so you can plug it in. That being said my porch will get wet in a heavy rain, and this house is made of a water resistant material that I am confident will keep the cat dry even when the porch gets wet. It is smaller than you would think by looking at the photos, but my cat is approx 20 lbs and he fits in there fine. For me the small but practical size is a bonus because I don't have a huge eyesore on my front porch, and the cat gets to be warm and dry.
A bit smaller than I expected.
Easy to assemble - might be o.k. for what I intended --- which is to leave outdoors for strays that I feed. "Heated Outdoor Kitty House" to me means that it is an outdoor house ... in reading the carton it appears that it is outdoor for your porch or an out building ... I don't have a porch or out building to put it in. So I'll see how this works out as it gets colder. Almost big enough for one cat ...
Not what I expected
My husband and I have a stray cat that has adopted us. We don't want him in the house (I have allergies and we don't want shredded furniture). My husband made a shelter, but we wanted to get something for the winter months. I read the reviews of this house and thought it would work. First, my husband had trouble putting it together. He put it ouside overnight, plugged in. The next day he checked it and said it wasn't warm. So, he brought it inside and plugged it in. He said it was slightly warm, but only if he pressed down on the pad. The biggest problem was the cord length. We have an outdoor outlet, but the cord was too short and the directions said not to use an extension cord. The online description makes it sound like it can be used outdoors, but the directions say on a porch, etc. So, it really isn't meant to be used out in the weather. After all this we returned it and are of course out the return shipping. I think the description should say how long the cord is...
