It Does The Job
I read many reviews that stated that the metal pieces on this unit rust - and very quickly at that. I decided to buy it anyway. The reviews were correct. It began to show signs of rust within a week. However, I've had it for over four months and it works just as well as it did the day I bought it. Metal rusts. That is a fact. This is a HEAVY DUTY product and it does what it is supposed to do, regardless of the rust. My dog is an 80 pound (of pure muscle) escape artist and this works just fine at keeping her in the yard. She has never caused either of the clasps to open, even though she pulls repeatedly when trying to "visit" the dog next door. Both clasps are very heavy duty (and just plain heavy). It may have rust on it, but this thing is not breaking without a fight bigger and badder than from my girl. For those of you worried about the rust, I recommend spray painting it with a rust preventor before putting it outside. Problem solved.
Boss Pet
I have two Norweigian Elkhouds my female is about eighty pounds and the boss pet is the only thing that I can use that does'nt break or that she can get loose on. The other clips on the tie outs she can get undone but the clip on Boss Pet is strong. I recommend this for anyone who has dogs that get loose easy. I love it.
It's ok
Our black lab has gone through at least 5 of these. All have failed on the cable below the end that attaches to his choke collar. They last us about 4 months. We continue to buy them because when they break we need to pick something up quickly and they're the heaviest thing that our local pet store carries. I think if your dog is fairly calm you'll do fine with this. If he's strong and prone to "testing" the cable, he'll eventually snap it. I just found that they make a 250lb cable, and am going to try that one.
